Joining Arup

As a Senior Roads Engineer, you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of complex road infrastructure projects across Australia. Your technical expertise and leadership will help shape the future of our Highways team while driving innovation and collaboration.

The Opportunity

  • Lead highway design packages for road infrastructure projects, including client liaison, technical documentation, and coordination with internal/external teams.
  • Deliver high-quality civil engineering design solutions and provide technical advice to government, private, and contractor clients.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior engineers and designers, fostering team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure work is delivered within budget and timeframes, while maintaining alignment with Arup's quality and safety standards.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, proposal development, and continuous improvement of Arup's highway design systems and practices.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • Extensive knowledge of road design standards (Austroads, RMS, TfNSW, Australian Standards) and demonstrated project delivery experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams and experience in model reviews, clash detection, and integrated design solutions.
  • Familiarity with 12d road alignment models and coordination with drainage, utility, and 3D models from other software platforms.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in mentoring, supervising teams, and delivering internal training.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and near or full membership of a professional engineering institution.
