Join us and you'll be part of an organisation that takes pride in its people and purpose: to deliver exceptional acoustic designs. MDA is currently looking for a new junior team member. If you would like to work in a creative environment, with excellent conditions and a competitive salary, then we would like to hear from you.
MDA has been providing innovative acoustic designs for over 40 years and is a leading acoustic consultancy with major projects around the world. MDA was formed in Auckland in 1981 by Christopher Day and Sir Harold Marshall. We now have over 90 acoustic engineers in thirteen offices covering Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, UK, and France.
Our strength in acoustic design comes from the diversity of our team members - drawn from engineering, architectural, musical and academic backgrounds. We have unmatched expertise and provide innovative acoustics solutions and advice of the highest standard.
We place the utmost value on our team and are proud of our track record of hiring the best and the brightest talent, significantly contributing to our enviable level of staff retention.
As a Graduate Consultant within the Melbourne office, you will assist with client projects ranging from basic noise assessments through to small designs, constantly building on your basic acoustics and engineering knowledge with the aim of becoming more independent to service clients.
You will be responsible for working co-operatively within a team to deliver client projects on time and within budget.
You will have excellent communication skills, an ability to learn and excellent teamwork skills. The position will involve the following tasks:
- Acquire various techniques to resolve basic acoustic and vibration issues
- Assist in the design of acoustic and vibration solutions for small projects
- Use judgement and/or interpretation to perform basic design/calculation tasks on small projects
- Become familiar in using measurement equipment and basic functions of industry-specific software
- Following MDA's style guide, produce high-quality documentation comprising basic concepts
- Attend client site visits, surveys and meetings
- Assume responsibility for components of small projects, including a basic understanding of the financials
- Undertake project specific training and/or induction courses where required
A full driver's licence and clean driving record is essential as well as valid residency status and visa to work full-time in Australia.
If successful, your duties will include preparing and carrying out acoustic surveys throughout Victoria and other states in Australia, on a frequent basis. On occasion, it will also be necessary to carry out surveys during the night-time hours. Confidence in working independently in remote regional locations will be necessary. As such, an ability and willingness to accommodate these requirements will be an essential part of the position.
If you would like to be a valued member of our close-knit and collaborative team, working on a variety of great projects, send your
cover letter and CV to
. This position is for a graduate or under graduate consultant but should not prevent applicants with up to three years' consulting experience in building or environmental acoustics, from applying. We are not currently seeking overseas candidates for this role.
