Position summary

Our Client is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer with 3–7 years of experience to join their Project Engineering team. You will support HV engineering delivery across substations, transmission & distribution projects, tenders, and commissioning activities, contributing to impactful infrastructure that supports the energy transition.

About the role

This role sits within the Project Engineering team and provides support across design, tendering, technical delivery and on-site commissioning for HV infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with senior engineers, construction teams and commissioning specialists, contributing to both office-based engineering and periodic site activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning, design, and engineering for HV substations and transmission/distribution systems
  • Support tender preparation: engineering scopes, cost estimates, technical proposals
  • Develop and review drawings, SLDs and design documentation
  • Conduct HV engineering studies (earthing, protection coordination, load flow, short-circuit, insulation coordination)
  • Prepare commissioning documentation (ITPs, CTPs, FTPs) and work packs
  • Support SAT, commissioning and energisation activities
  • Provide technical support during construction to resolve design or installation issues
  • Assist with as-built documentation, punch lists, and project handover
  • Participate in project meetings, risk assessments and quality reviews

About the candidate

You're an electrical engineer with strong HV fundamentals, good documentation skills, and a desire to build capability across design, construction, and commissioning.

Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • 3–7 years' electrical engineering experience (HV/substations strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of protection systems, earthing, SCADA/telemetry and HV standards
  • Experience preparing commissioning documentation (ITPs, CTPs, FTPs)
  • Strong skills in engineering documentation and drawings
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Willingness to travel to sites as required
  • Australian working rights

Desirable:
  • Tender engineering/estimating experience
  • Exposure to mining, renewables, or major infrastructure
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT
  • Familiarity with test equipment (Omicron, transformer test gear, relay test sets)
