Pacific Industrial Company (PIC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join our delivery team for the Konnongorring ORB Facility; a key project delivered for CBH. As the Head Contractor, PIC is responsible for coordinating all civil, SMP, and electrical works, and we are strengthening our on-site leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality project outcomes.
This role will suit a proactive engineer with strong technical grounding in electrical and instrumentation systems, excellent contractor management capability, and proven experience supporting commissioning activities on brownfield or greenfield industrial projects.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the electrical installation contractor package, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual, technical, and statutory requirements. The role includes planning, coordination, quality assurance, interface management, commissioning support, and stakeholder liaison.
This position will be site-based at Konnongorring on a project roster, with periodic attendance at PIC's Perth office.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Contractor & Interface Management
- Coordinate and oversee the Electrical Installation Contractor's daily activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, ITPs, and project program.
- Manage interfaces between electrical, civil, SMP, and vendor-supplied equipment
- Review contractor work packs, SWMS, commissioning plans, and procurement schedules.
- Ensure accurate tracking of progress, variations, RFIs, and technical queries.
Technical & Quality Management
- Review electrical design documentation, single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable schedules, and control system requirements.
- Implement QA and verification processes, ensuring hold points, inspections, and test records are completed to PIC and client standards.
- Support FAT, SAT, and onsite commissioning activities including loop checks, functional testing, and energisation readiness.
Safety, Compliance & Site Coordination
- Ensure works comply with statutory requirements, AS/NZS electrical standards, and site electrical safety protocols.
- Assist with isolations, permitting processes, energisation planning, and verification of safe systems of work.
- Participate in daily pre-starts, coordination meetings, and safety inspections.
Reporting – Internal and External
- Provide timely internal reporting to the Project Manager and PIC management, including progress updates, issues, risks, forecasts, delays, and contractor performance.
- Support external reporting requirements for the client (CBH), including status updates, commissioning readiness, quality documentation, NCR close-out, and handover deliverables.
- Assist with weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, and documentation uploads to client systems as required.
Commissioning & Handover
- Support the development and execution of commissioning plans and test sheets for the ORB facility.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors during start-up and troubleshooting.
- Prepare redline mark-ups, as-built documentation, and completion packs for client handover.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years of site-based experience on industrial, mining, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Proven experience managing electrical subcontractors.
- Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and commissioning practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable:
- Experience with bulk materials handling, conveyor systems, motors, VSDs, and PLC/SCADA-based control.
- Exposure to grain handling facilities or rail infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of QA/ITP processes and construction contract administration.
