About the Team
The Forensic Child and Youth Mental Health Service is a specialist Program within the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service and is also part of the broader Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service. Forensic CYMHS provides assessment and treatment services to young people with mental health issues and significant behavioural disturbance that have resulted/or place them at elevated risk of involvement with the criminal justice system.
About the Role
Leading the implementation of training and professional development activities to Forensic CYMHS clinicians based in North Queensland.
Development of a workforce development strategy focused on internal staff training and retention as well as attraction and recruitment of new staff.
In collaboration with Forensic CYMHS leadership team, establishing minimum training requirements for each service and facilitate opportunities and options to meet training requirements. This includes direct provision of training in specialist forensic mental health content.
Ensuring training meets best practice standards and reflects developments in the areas of forensic mental and child and adolescent mental health.
Establishing and maintaining records of staff training with regular review and evaluation to inform ongoing workforce and training needs.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills of providing specialist forensic mental health services to children and adolescents.
Provision of specialist forensic mental health consultation and clinical services including advising on serious and complex clinical issues and ensuring alignment with Health Service imperatives.
Applying advanced clinical knowledge and skills to inform the development of the Forensic CYMHS workforce.
