Learning Designer

SAE University College is looking for an exceptional Learning Designer on a 12-month fixed term basis.
Primary objective:
The Learning Designer is responsible for supporting the design and development of learning resources, interactive and technology-driven learning objects, and other support materials for SAE's courses. As part of the Digital Experience Team, this role follows and disseminates course design standards, as well as reporting on learning effectiveness and usability across the curriculum. Additionally, this role mentors and coaches members of the faculty (SMEs) in learning design principles and practices.
Key to this role:
- Implement SAE's Learning Design Framework and unit development processes.
- Apply effective project management to complete, track and report on course and unit design progress.
- Support faculty and SMEs in designing courses and implementing continuous improvement, including learning resources, content, assessment and support resources.
- Support, guide and train faculty and SMEs in creating effective online learning experiences.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders on course development.
- Develops tools and reusable templates for instructional development.
- Demonstrates initiative in driving solutions for improved learning experiences in the context of a large and geographically dispersed organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with faculty and subject matter experts in course design, development, and continuous improvement of instructional resources.
- Communicate regularly with the Educational Designer and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all new or updated course resources comply with minimum standards.
- Suggest and report on continuous improvement opportunities to learning experience design, educational technologies, and course content.
- Participate in UAT and quality assurance processes.
- Apply effective project management processes in course design.
- Provide feedback and expertise to faculty in learning design, including learning activities associated with learning objectives
Skills and Knowledge
The specific technologies may differ depending on new technologies, however may include:
- Learning Management System (Moodle)
- Google Drive and Google suite of apps
- Reporting and Analytics
- Mobile learning technologies
- Video repository and editing solutions (e.g. YouTube,
- Vimeo, Davinci, Clipchamp)
- Audio solutions (e.g. audacity)
- Survey technologies (e.g. SurveyMonkey / Google and Moodle forms)
- Any other relevant systems, which relate to the online learning student learning experience design.
Core Competencies
- Postgraduate qualifications in instructional / learning design, particularly for blended and online delivery or a related area.
- Demonstrated experience in working with learning management systems.
- Demonstrated experience working in a higher educational context (teacher, educational manager).
- Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and ability to relate to other people and to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- High level of computer/digital skills and a proven work record of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
