The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting and advisory services, including but not limited to:·

• Providing bookkeeping services using accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, Reckon, including processing of sales, purchases, and payroll.·

• Preparing financial statements for various entities, including companies, individuals, trusts, and self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs).·

• Delivering business services, including the preparation and lodgement of WorkCover, payroll tax, ASIC, and ABR documentation.·

• Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and income tax returns with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).·

• Advising clients on accounting software functionality and troubleshooting issues in systems such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online, and Reckon.·

• Communicating with clients, the ATO, ASIC, and other stakeholders; including managing account issues, extensions, payment arrangements, and audit/review matters on behalf of clients.·

• Conducting research for tax planning and providing advisory services by applying tax legislation to specific client scenarios.·

• Preparing audit plans and programs, followed by the delivery of audit services, including on-site client visits, transactional sample verification, and balance sheet reviews.·

• Identifying and reviewing transactions for Capital Gains Tax (CGT) implications and calculating applicable CGT liabilities.· Identifying and reviewing Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) transactions and calculating employee contributions as required.·

• Lodging payroll tax with the State Revenue Office on behalf of clients.·

• Preparing PAYG Payment Summaries for client employees at the end of each financial year.·

• Developing cash flow projections and related financial documentation.·

• Performing financial analysis and ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.·

• Maintaining fixed asset registers and calculating depreciation for various asset types.·

• Resolving discrepancies and incorrect entries in client financial records.·

• Ensuring compliance with ATO and industry-specific regulations.·

• Delivering seminars (in English and Spanish) on Australian tax law, business setup, and ongoing compliance obligations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• A minimum of 1 year experience in a public accounting practice in Australia.

• Fluency in Spanish is essential.

• Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

• High attention to detail and effective time management skills.

• Proficiency in using accounting software, especially Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks.

• Competence in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
