Our Company
For more than 45 years, ABN Group has been a leader in the building, property, and finance industries, helping thousands of Australians turn the dream of home ownership into reality. We've delivered over 90,000 homes across Western Australia and Victoria — from first homes to luxury builds — earning the trust of our community along the way.
The Role
As a Business Technology Designer, you start with "should we?" before "how would we?" You capture new ideas, interrogate the problem, and determine whether a technology change is the right lever, before any solutioning begins. You'll ensure initiatives are aligned to strategy, create measurable value, and isn't solvable by simpler process or policy. You'll work comfortably with IT General and Executive Managers, and business leaders to frame choices, quantify impact, and either advance, re-route, or stop ideas with clear rationale.
This role brings clarity, structure, and governance to the front door of technology translating demand into well-founded investment decisions and clean handovers into delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Run strategic intake and maintain a transparent initiatives backlog (excl. BAU fixes)
- Validate strategic fit, quantify expected value, time-to-impact, and risks; recommend progress / pivot / park
- Produce decision-ready idea briefs presenting opportunity, alignment, options, high-level costs/benefits to submit to leadership for pre-approval
- Coordinate time-boxed discovery with Architecture/Delivery/Business: scope, options, estimates, timelines. Build business cases with benefits, TCO/ROI, assumptions and risks; recommend progress to approval, pivot or park
- Orchestrate structured handover to delivery with clear ownership, success measures and dependencies; keeping stakeholders informed
- Keep stakeholders informed with timely, transparent communication throughout the processes
About You
You're an organised, collaborative professional who thrives at the intersection of business and technology. You're a structured, commercially minded problem-solver who sees the big picture while also managing the detail, and you're skilled at building relationships, influencing, and comfortable digging into the problem/opportunity with the business. You blend strategic thinking with enough technical fluency to test options, without jumping straight to solutioning.
You will bring:
- Experience in consulting, strategy, business architecture, portfolio, or business analysis
- Tertiary degree in Business/Commerce, Information Systems, Engineering or Economics
- Broad experience across core technology domains and modern business-supporting technologies
- Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and multi-disciplinary IT teams
- Proven organisational skills with ability to manage processes, backlogs, and competing priorities
- Understanding of business strategy and how technology solutions align to it
- Excellent verbal and written communication, able to engage technical and non-technical audiences
- Practical knowledge of architecture, solution design, business analysis
