We're looking for a creative, data-savvy, and culturally tuned-in YouTube Growth Specialist to help grow our presence across multiple genre-based YouTube channels.

This role is classified as Level 4 (annual base salary pro-rata $96,483 to $106,688) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department
The YouTube Growth Specialist role resides in the Social Media Strategy team of the SBS Marketing division, whose vision is to inspire audiences and our people to love the world of SBS.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Head of Social Media, this is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of content, culture, and platform innovation and bring SBS's bold, diverse storytelling to new audiences across the country.
You'll be the engine behind our YouTube content ecosystem. Editing, optimising, and publishing video content that drives reach, watch time, and platform growth. You'll help manage a portfolio of SBS YouTube profiles and work closely with internal content teams to ensure our stories shine on the world's biggest video platform.
This is a 12-month Contract based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements.
This role is hands-on and strategic. You'll:
- Edit and optimise short- and long-form video content tailored for YouTube
- Manage daily publishing across multiple SBS YouTube channels
- Own metadata, thumbnails, playlists, tags, titles, and descriptions to maximise discoverability and impact
- Work with strategy teams to monitor analytics to track performance, surface insights, and inform publishing strategy
- Identify opportunities to grow channel audiences—including launching new profiles when it makes sense
- Collaborate with SBS teams to identify, source, and adapt content for YouTube
- Support monetisation and explore opportunities to increase SBS On Demand reach via third-party video consumption.
You're right for this role if you:
- Live and breathe YouTube and know how to speak its language
- Have experience editing for digital platforms, especially YouTube Shorts and mid/long-form video
- Understand audience behaviour, retention metrics, and algorithmic optimisation
- Have a keen eye for trends and cultural moments—and know how to respond fast
- Are organised, detail-obsessed, and confident juggling multiple profiles
- Want to help bring unique, multicultural content to life in new formats
Bonus points for:
- Experience with tools like YouTube Studio, Sprout, TubeBuddy, or VidIQ
- Some knowledge of SEO for video, including search optimisation, keyword targeting, and cross-platform discoverability although not mandatory
- An understanding of the Australian media landscape and a passion for public broadcasting
