About the role

As our Communities Officer located in Mareeba, you'll develop and deliver community engagement plans, programs and activities, drive collaboration, and support the most important community needs. You will build strong relationships with community service organisations and groups to achieve priority outcomes and coordinate the provision of Council assistance to support the sustainability of community groups.

About you

  • You have demonstrated experience in a similar role undertaking community consultation, engagement and building stakeholder relationships.
  • You hold qualifications in communications, engagement, community development or have equivalent experience.
  • You are a strong communicator with exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills, superior written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to write reports and make recommendations.   • You have exceptional organisational and time management skills and can manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and embrace technology.

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • LGOA Level 5/1 – $89,573 per annum
  • Mareeba Allowance – up to $2,080 per annum
  • 12% employer superannuation contributions
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
  • Rostered days off (19-day month)
