About this roleA brand new role within our payroll team, the Compliance Specialist plays a key role in working with Payroll, People and Culture and Workplace Relations to ensure organisational compliance. This position is responsible for identifying and supporting compliance risks, ensuring adherence to legislative and industrial obligations, conducting internal audits, and supporting systems accuracy across the employee lifecycle. The role also contributes to remuneration strategy and market competitiveness.
What you'll do
- Monitor award and legislation changes to ensure compliance
- Conduct salary benchmarking and remuneration reviews to ensure equity and fair wages
- Audit data across payroll and HR systems
- Identify and monitor compliance risk, making recommendations to management
- Act as a compliance resource across payroll, people and culture and workplace relations
- Support training and awareness of compliance across these teams

Our ideal candidate will have;**
- Familiarity with payroll and workforce systems (e.g., HR3, Humanforce)
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and risk awareness
- Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into actionable processes
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of not-for-profit or community services sector
- Experience in remuneration benchmarking or salary review projects
- Qualifications in HR, Business, Industrial Relations, or Compliance
- Proven experience in payroll, HR, or compliance-focused roles
- Strong knowledge of Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements
- Experience with internal audit, STP reporting, and LSL compliance
