Common Vice Wine Bar is looking for a Head Chef to join our team on a full-time basis with immediate start.
About Us
Common Vice is a laid-back neighbourhood wine bar nestled on Welsby Street, serving shareable Modern-Australian/European-inspired plates, craft beers, and a curated natural wine list. With exposed brick, warm lighting, and a friendly, relaxed vibe, we're a place where locals come to unwind.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the kitchen, including roster, prep, and day-to-day production
- Develop, refine, and execute our menu with seasonal, high-quality ingredients
- Work closely with FOH to deliver consistent product
- Manage food costs, inventory, and suppliers
- Train and mentor junior cooks, fostering a positive kitchen culture
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
Who You Are
- A proven leader (Head/Sous Chef experience) in a busy restaurant or wine bar
- Passionate about seasonal, share-style food and working with natural wines
- Cost-conscious, but creative - you understand budget, but also know the value of flavour.
- Excellent communicator who works well with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Committed to quality, consistency, and creating dishes people talk about.
