Australian Native Landscapes is seeking a suitably qualified Group Transport Manager to join the company and have overall responsibility for over 200 heavy, medium, and light vehicles in a fast-moving working environment. Our facility at Badgery's Creek is the preferred location for this position however it can be based at any one of our Sydney sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Transport Operations Management

  • Oversee and manage daily transport operations across all company locations, ensuring fleet utilisation, service reliability, and compliance.
  • Direct scheduling, dispatching, and route optimisation for both country and metropolitan deliveries.

NHVR Compliance & Regulatory Control

  • Ensure strict adherence to NHVR regulations, including fatigue management, mass and dimension limits, vehicle standards, PBS routes and maintenance regimes.
  • Manage compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
  • Lead and support internal audits and maintain audit-ready documentation for NHVR & RMS inspections.

Fleet Management & Maintenance

  • Oversee a large heavy vehicle fleet, ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to in line with NHVAS accreditation standards. Liaise with workshop managers to ensure compliance and preventative maintenance. Report back to management and provide insight and educated comments and suggestions.
  • Coordinate with workshops or external service providers for vehicle repairs, new equipment, inspections, and roadworthiness.
  • Implement fleet tracking, telematics, and safety technology to monitor real-time operations and ensure performance targets are met, provide regular reports which encompass many subjects such as Heavy braking, heaving accelerating, idle hours etc. Utilise the tools within the tracking system (Navman) and provide regular reports and feedback. Monitoring the driver scores and then awarding drivers accordingly when they achieve either 1st or over a set number (over 90% e.g).

Person Specification:

Experience/Background:

  • Extensive experience in a similar position
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar transport management position is required
  • Extensive experience in NHVR laws and regulations
  • Extensive Computer and applicable program(s) experience.
  • Proficiency in fleet management systems, Navman telematics, Microsoft Office Suite, transport scheduling software, and compliance tracking systems is essential
  • Excellent communication and negotiations skills.
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Honest, Punctual & reliable
  • Excellent Customer relations experience
  • Have a current HC licence and good driving record.
  • Competent in front end load operation.
  • Hand writing of a high standard.
