Public Sector People are working with a council in Northern Sydney who are looking for 2 Senior Payroll Officers to join them ASAP.

  • 1 part-time position - 3 days per week
  • 1 full-time position - 5 days per week
  • ASAP Start
  • $50-$60ph + super

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you'll support the Team Leader Payroll in delivering accurate and efficient end-to-end payroll services for our organisation. As the 2IC within the Payroll team, you'll also play a key role in training and supporting other payroll staff, improving systems and processes, and providing accurate reporting to internal stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately interpret and apply the Local Government (State) Award, Council Agreements, contracts, and employment-related policies.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including taxation, superannuation and workers compensation.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, system accuracy, and effective record keeping.
  • Support and optimise payroll system use and development (including HRIS).
  • Produce accurate payroll and HR reports as required.
  • Train and support other payroll staff in administration tasks.

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing, award interpretation and superannuation/workers compensation payments.
  • Experience with iChris Payroll system.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and high computer literacy (including spreadsheets).
  • Knowledge of the Local Government (State) Award and/or experience in a local government environment is highly desirable.
