AWCON is an Australian leading Civil Construction business in the mining and heavy industries sector. With stable growth and long-term existing contracts, We are seeking suitably qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or Diesel Plant Mechanics / Fitters to join our team across multiple sites.

We are currently seeking experienced and trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters with air conditioning certification to join our team in the mining sector. This is a hands-on role that involves maintaining and servicing both fixed plant equipment and air conditioning systems on site.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for, and possess the following abilities to assist in maintaining AWCON's and associated clients Vehicles and Plant items.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel equipment, including loaders, trucks, and drills.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in underground mining machinery.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Work safely in confined underground environments while adhering to mine site regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records and report defects or required repairs to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Follow workplace health and safety protocols, including hazard identification and risk assessments

ABOUT YOU

To be successful you will possess the following:

  • A relevant qualification – Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
  • Experience in working on Fire Suppression Systems is highly desirable
  • Experience in mining industries is desirable, particularly when experienced in underground mining
  • Strong diagnostic and trouble shooting skills
  • Experience with a mixed late model trucks and equipment, with an average age of 5 Years old
  • Current Driver Licence - Heavy Vehicle Licence up to HC is desirable
  • Construction White Card – or ability to obtain
