This is a full-time cadetship opportunity combining paid employment with structured study support in the field of Hydrographic Surveying. You will gain practical experience on marine survey projects while completing formal qualifications. The role is ideal for motivated school leavers looking to build a professional career in spatial sciences, with strong pathways into senior surveyor positions.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with Hydrographic Surveys, Data Collection, and Processing
- Operate survey equipment onboard vessels and at remote sites
- Support reporting and charting deliverables
- Study towards an Associate Degree in Spatial Science (Hydrographic Surveying) (UniSQ ), with tuition reimbursement
- Travel occasionally for field work
- Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent with a strong level of understanding in STEM.
- Eligibility and willingness to enroll in the Associate Degree in Spatial Science (Hydrographic Surveying) at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) studying Online. You must be eligible for Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) funding for your university tuition fees.
- Strong interest in marine and spatial sciences
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work in remote environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer literacy and capacity to learn specialised software
Tuition fees for the Associate Degree reimbursed 12 months after course completion, contingent on:
Successful graduation
- Continued full-time employment with BlueSpatial for at least 12 months post-graduation
- Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week. This cadetship includes a blended schedule, with around 60% allocated to on-the-job experience and 40% dedicated to structured study, along with reasonable additional hours when required.
- Regular field work, including travel to remote sites and working onboard vessels
- Annual leave, personal leave, and long service leave entitlements in line with the National Employment Standards (NES)
