About the Role:

The Electrical Specialist provides advanced technical support across electrical systems and infrastructure within the fixed plant mining operation. This role is responsible for assisting with high-priority breakdowns, troubleshooting complex faults, and ensuring timely and safe electrical maintenance execution. Leveraging extensive hands-on trade experience, the role is focused on improving Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), supporting operational continuity, and maintaining compliance with statutory electrical requirements. It also involves mentoring electrical tradespeople and ensuring adherence to site standards and safety protocols

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • ensure compliance with all site safety systems, statutory requirements, and company standards;
  • identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to optimise plant availability;
  • ensure compliance with site safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements;
  • provide hands-on support during breakdowns to assist in rapid equipment recovery and reduce MTTR;
  • execute or guide complex repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure safe and reliable operation;
  • assist in validating job scopes, tooling requirements, and work packs prior to execution;
  • collaborate with engineers and planners to provide practical feedback on task improvements;
  • ensure compliance with all site safety requirements, isolation procedures, and permit systems;
  • provide immediate technical support during electrical breakdowns to reduce MTTR;
  • conduct or guide troubleshooting on electrical faults, control systems, and instrumentation;
  • assist in planning and executing statutory inspections and preventative maintenance tasks;
  • mentor electrical apprentices and trades in technical standards and procedures;
  • perform HV switching support and assist in isolations in line with permit systems;
  • participate in root cause investigations and support implementation of corrective actions; and
  • ensure compliance with site isolation procedures, risk assessments, and electrical regulations.

About the Candidate

The incumbent should have the following skills and/or experience:

  • WA A-Grade Electrical Licence (mandatory);
  • certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician;
  • high Voltage Switching ticket (preferred);
  • strong fault-finding and diagnostics skills on low and high voltage systems;
  • sound understanding of electrical standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 4836;
  • ability to assist in switchroom and MCC maintenance, instrumentation fault-finding, and VSD support;
  • proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and OEM documentation;
  • familiar with maintenance systems such as SAP;
  • attention to detailed and strong documentation practices;
  • safety-focused with a strong understanding of risk management in maintenance activities;
  • results-driven mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks in a high-paced environment;
  • high attention to detail and analytical problem-solving capabilities; and
  • team leadership and mentoring capability.
