Assistant Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a growing team in the construction industry. If you're passionate about accounts, process improvements, and looking to develop your skills, this is the perfect role for you. This position will give you exposure to a variety of tasks and responsibilities, allowing you to build a broad set of accounting skills.

THE ROLE

  • Assign bills to projects and process batch payments for approval
  • Raise and verify invoices, including handling debt collection activities
  • Perform reconciliations, including bank transactions, month-end supplier statements, and month-end credit card statements
  • Assist with processing weekly payroll for 30-40 employees
  • Track and process employee expense claims
  • Maintain data integrity across various platforms
  • File and maintain supplier and customer records
  • Assist the Company Accountant and External Accountants with reporting and statutory requirements
  • Handle ad hoc tasks as required

THE PERSON

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Relevant qualifications (Diploma or Degree)
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively
  • Process improvement mindset with a continuous learning attitude
  • Experience with XERO is preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Full Work Rights in Australia
