The City of Melville's MelSafe Community Safety Service is seeking Investigations Officers to lead compliance casework, follow-up investigations and more complex enquiries.
This role goes beyond patrol – you'll focus on proactive investigations, enforcement actions and regulatory outcomes that require detailed case management. You'll still be a visible presence in the community with a focus on building strong evidence and compliance.
Location: City of Melville Operations Centre
Salary: $ $58.41 per hour (incl 25% casual loading) + 12% Super

What You'll Do
- Conduct proactive patrols, inspections, and investigations across the City
- Manage detailed, protracted casework and evidence collection
- Enforce compliance with legislation (animal management, bushfire, parking, signage, litter, etc.)
- Prepare reports, case notes, and prosecution briefs
- Undertake enforcement actions including cautions, infringements, and directives
- Seize and impound animals safely and lawfully
- Represent the City in court or tribunal hearings
- Engage the community through education and respectful communication
- Support emergency response and incident management
What We're Looking For
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
- Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
- Extensive experience or qualifications in compliance, investigations, or local laws (ROCS 1 & 2)
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and its application
- Proactive approach to enforcement and problem-solving
- Strong investigation, case management, and report-writing skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution ability
- (Desirable) Dangerous dog handling and court experience
