The Role

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Engineer to join our specialist façade design team. This role will provide technical expertise, design innovation and support across a wide range of curtain wall, window, door and façade projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of structural design calculation submissions for glass and aluminium custom curtain wall suites, windows, doors, sunshades and frameless glass assemblies.
  • Use of structural engineering software (Excel, Mathcad, SpaceGass, Checkwind, FEA such as SJMepla & Abaqus) with favourable knowledge of CAD, Python scripting and/or Grasshopper.
  • Performing and preparing structural adequacy calculations for peer review, checking drawings for weather resistance and regulatory compliance.
  • Checking and authorising design drawings for production.
  • Developing innovative tender proposals and contract designs, including arranging and analysing in-house testing to validate structural models.
  • Providing technical advice to design and construction teams on methods, materials and installation for aluminium-framed and unframed glazing works and monumental curtain wall projects.
  • Witnessing and analysing results of prototype performance testing.
  • Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers within the team.
  • Liaising and negotiating with consultants, architects, builders and certifiers to achieve design approvals.

The Person

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering (Structural / Building Physics major preferred).
  • Façade engineering knowledge and design experience within the glazing and aluminium sector highly regarded.
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software; CAD and programming skills advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
  • Confidence to provide advice and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management or site supervision experience in glazing design, supply and installation valued.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
