About the Role

We're looking for Residential Support Workers to join our Kununurra team in casual roles. In this rewarding position, you'll work within a team to provide a safe and respectful home environment for up to four young people at a time. You'll play an active part in helping them achieve personal goals, meet bail conditions, and make positive life choices through structured, strengths-based programs.

Shifts vary and include weekday, evening/overnight, and weekend hours. You'll also help facilitate activities, provide supervision, support family visits, and act as a positive role model while ensuring the home is clean, welcoming, and supportive.

You'll Need

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, AOD, or similar—or 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with complex needs or challenging behaviours
  • Confidence engaging with Aboriginal young people and understanding of cultural considerations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to support meal preparation, maintain a safe living space, and facilitate recreational activities
  • Computer literacy for documentation and reporting
  • A strong commitment to working within professional boundaries

Desirable skills:

  • Experience or training in trauma-informed care, FASD, or mental health first aid (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Hobbies and practical skills to share with young people (e.g., cooking, woodwork, gardening)
  • Knowledge of youth justice and social issues impacting young people

Mandatory clearances:

  • Current National Police Check (within 3 months)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Current C or A class driver's license
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Department of Justice ID verification
  • Australian residency or valid working visa
