About the role
Yarra Ranges Council has an exciting opportunity for a Kindergarten Engagement Facilitator to join our Family, Youth and Children business unit as part of the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Outreach Initiative. You will be joining a highly dedicated and passionate team dedicated to making a difference in our community.
The CALD Outreach Initiative is a partnership project between the Victorian State Government, Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and local Government which supports the inclusion of children from CALD backgrounds in kindergarten and Pre-Prep programs.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for directly engaging with CALD children and families from local kindergartens and in other early childhood supports in their local area such as playgroups and Maternal and Child Health.
- Research, develop, implement and report on inclusion strategies that maximise attendance of CALD children in kindergarten and support transition to school.
- Build capacity of services and workforce through advice and support to staff, facilitate activities promoting safe and inclusive programs, and promotion of resources.
- Establish and support partnerships with local and regional refugee, asylum seeker and culturally diverse groups, organisations and service providers to engage families and strengthen referral pathways.
- Gather and provide data to inform and measure increase in attendance and participation across early years settings.

- This is a full-time temporary position (grant funded) until June 2027. Part-time and job-share arrangements would be considered for the right candidate.
- This is a Band 6 role with a salary range between $98,432 and $107,292 per annum, plus superannuation.
Experience and skills we're looking for
- Excellent relationship building skills, a strong knowledge of cultural diversity, beliefs, values and needs of a culturally and linguistically diverse community as well as an understanding of Myanmar/Burmese Communities.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding in supporting the planning and evaluating of inclusive early childhood programs.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and work collaboratively with Early Childhood Teachers, educators, families, specialists, and other agencies to effectively convey, share and translate knowledge and skills.
- Sound knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Act and Education and Care Services National Regulations, Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards, Child Safe Standards and Child Information Sharing Schemes and their application in early childhood services.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and a proven ability to engage with the community are essential.
