We are currently seeking an Electrical Leading Hand at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension of an additional pit at Moorvale South, adding to our coal production.
About the role:
Peabody Energy is seeking a qualified and motivated Electrical Leading Hand to join our Coppabella Mine Maintenance team. This frontline leadership role supports the Electrical Supervisor by performing and supervising electrical works across both field and mobile equipment. You will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability and availability through planned and reactive maintenance, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Electrical Supervisor role with either electrical work or supervision of personnel as required.
- Provide technical direction for electrical fault finding, installations, and inspections
- Execute and support electrical work in accordance with site procedures and safety requirements
- Work in accordance with relevant legislation, Safety Management Plans, and site safety procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Manage unplanned breakdowns and execute preventative maintenance activities
- Initiate and manage work orders and defect notifications in SAP
- Collaborate closely with the Production and Maintenance teams to achieve operational targets
- Step into the Electrical Supervisor role when needed, ensuring continuity of leadership and support for the electrical team
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and performance among crew electricians
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 7 Days On and 7 Days Off (Day only) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or salary sacrificed FIFO lifestyle. Employees living residentially may have access to a $15,000 housing allowance.
About you:
We're looking for a motivated individual with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Qld Electrical Fitter/Electrical Mechanic trade qualification
- Current HV switching qualifications
- Coal Mining Supervisor competencies (RIICOM301, RIIOHS301, RIIRIS301)
- Proven leadership experience in supervising electrical crews.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Demonstrated experience with high voltage reticulation networks, including protection system operation, fault finding, and maintenance.
- Experience with electric drive trucks:
- Liebherr T282
- Komatsu 830/930
- Hitachi EH4000 - Field equipment experience:
- P&H 4100 A/C and D/C shovels
- Draglines
Desirable:
- Proficiency with SAP or other CMMS systems
- Experience performing duties as a High Voltage Switching Coordinator
- Relevant post-trade qualifications
