Category Specialist – Bruce Rock Engineering (BRE)

Full-time | Permanent | Monday–Friday | Perth-based (Forrestfield)

We're now looking for an experienced and motivated Category Specialist to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you'll shape sourcing strategies, manage key supplier relationships, and ensure procurement delivers maximum value across our multi-site operations.

What you'll be doing

As Category Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring BRE has the right suppliers, the right terms, and the right strategies in place. You'll be responsible for:

• Category Strategy & Procurement Execution
• Develop category strategies that align with BRE's commercial and operational goals.
• Conduct market analysis, risk assessments, and identify sourcing opportunities.
• Raise and manage purchase orders in Epicor, ensuring accuracy in pricing, delivery, and compliance.

• Evaluate sourcing decisions based on total cost of ownership, quality, and service capability.

• Supplier Relationship Management

• Act as the key contact for suppliers within assigned categories.
• Manage supplier performance through KPIs (quality, DIFOT, service levels).

• Lead supplier reviews and support improvement initiatives.

• Contracts & Commercial Management

• Negotiate and manage supplier agreements in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager.

• Ensure contracts reflect business needs and monitor compliance.

• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to align sourcing with production requirements.

• Support demand planning and category alignment across multiple sites.

• Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate supplier and pricing data in Epicor.
• Monitor spend and supplier performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities and supply risks.
• Contribute to process improvements and innovative procurement practices.

What we're looking for

We're seeking someone who is proactive, analytical, and confident in building strong partnerships both internally and externally. You'll also bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (CIPS certification desirable).
• Training in contract law, commercial negotiation, or supplier performance management (desirable).
• Proven experience in category management, sourcing events (RFQ/RFT), and commercial negotiation.
• ERP system experience (Epicor preferred), with strong reporting and data analysis skills.
• Experience in supplier performance management using KPIs.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
• Commercial acumen, problem-solving ability, and adaptability.
• Experience in engineering or industrial procurement (highly regarded).
