Business Analyst – Finance & Procurement

Position Purpose

The Business Analyst is responsible for driving continuous improvement in financial and procurement reporting across the business. The position will partner with Finance, Procurement, and Operations to streamline data flows, improve decision-making tools, and ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting Improvement & Development
  • Analyse current reporting processes in Finance and Procurement to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and manual pain points.
  • Design, test, and implement improved reporting frameworks, dashboards, and data models that enhance visibility of spend, cost, and financial performance.
  • Work with system owners (ERP, BI tools, data warehouse) to standardise reporting structures and ensure consistent data definitions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to automate recurring reports, reduce manual effort, and improve reliability of financial and procurement insights.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate new technologies, tools, or process enhancements that support more agile decision-making.
  • Act as a change agent within the business to embed better reporting practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement teams to understand reporting requirements and deliver solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Translate complex financial and procurement data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Provide training, documentation, and guidance to improve end-user capability in using reporting tools.

Governance & Data Integrity

  • Work with Finance and IT to ensure reporting processes comply with internal controls and governance requirements.
  • Support data quality initiatives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of reporting outputs.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose reporting issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent skills in data visualisation and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, NetSuite Analytics, SQL).
  • Knowledge of financial and procurement processes (AP, purchasing, supplier spend analysis, COGS, budgeting, forecasting).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills – able to engage finance professionals, operational leaders, and system users.
  • Continuous improvement orientation, with proven ability to simplify, streamline, and automate reporting processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, IT, or related discipline.

3+ years' experience in a Business Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or similar role within Finance/Procurement environment.

Experience working with ERP and BI systems in a reporting/analysis capacity.

Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma) desirable.
