The Royal Women's Hospital is one of Australia's oldest and most distinguished tertiary hospitals dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women and newborns, offering specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women's health. Our goal is to be the best place to work, learn and contribute, and to provide exceptional experiences for our patients and consumers.
About the team
The Senior Clinician Family Violence supports the integration and sustainability of the Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence (SHRFV) model across metropolitan and rural health services, with a focus on the Parkville Local Health Services Network. Working within the Social Model of Health framework, the role delivers clinical expertise, training, consultation, and leadership in family violence practice, while contributing to system-wide capacity building, policy advocacy, and culturally safe, trauma-and violence informed care.
A regular day will see you:
• Delivering clinical education and secondary consultation to support staff responding to family violence
• Embedding MARAM and Information Sharing Schemes across the service, identifying practice gaps and solutions
• Providing direct clinical responses and contributing to multidisciplinary case planning for patients impacted by family violence
• Supporting the Prevention of Violence Against Women (PVAW) Champion Network and contributing to evaluation, quality improvement and risk mitigation activities
About you
An experienced professional with strong clinical skills and an intersectional, trauma-informed approach, you are self-directed, able to navigate complex situations with composure and professionalism whilst being capable of empowering others through mentoring, consultation, and training. Your ability to build confidence in others and navigate complex systems makes you a key mentor in this space.
You'll bring with you:
- A Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent qualification) with eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or another relevant professional body.
- A minimum of seven (7) years' experience in the family violence sector, with demonstrated expertise in specialist family violence practice and advanced clinical knowledge in complex service delivery environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of and training in the MARAM Framework, including risk assessment and safety planning for both victim/survivors and perpetrators (AuFV).
- Demonstrated ability to work with women, children and their families presenting with complex needs (e.g. trauma, substance abuse, mental health issues, parenting challenges, disability), and from diverse backgrounds including CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and LGBTIQA+ communities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and deliver training and develop resources effectively.
- A demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation, while also managing competing priorities, working autonomously, and showing initiative in a dynamic work environment.
Our benefits
At the Women's you will enjoy a culture that is collaborative, supportive and passionate about learning. We have a strong sense of purpose, and engage in meaningful work every day. We offer our people a range of rewarding benefits, including:
- Up to $11,660 in salary packaging benefits, for living expenses, meals and holiday accommodation
- A suite of wellness initiatives designed to support you, including discounted financial, lifestyle and health options, and a comprehensive wellbeing program

- Onsite post office, eateries, retail stores and library services
- Breastfeeding and pumping rooms, and a range of daycare centres nearby
- Mentoring, learning and career development opportunities
- Five weeks annual leave, 17.5% leave loading, monthly ADO's and purchased leave options
