Revenue Performance Economist

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Australian Taxation Office Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Economists to join the Revenue Performance Branch within International, Support and Programs, and build community confidence and trust through the administration of a world-class tax and superannuation system.

As a Revenue Performance Economist (APS 6), you will work with internal and external business partners to implement and interpret tax revenue performance measures that are defensible, meaningful and reliable. This will involve applying economic, statistical, mathematical and behavioural research methods to deliver, maintain and/or improve econometric models underpinning tailored performance measures.

You will be required to undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of large data sets, test hypotheses and forecast trends related to performance measurement. You'll analyse taxpayer populations, including factors influencing their behaviours, and how their circumstances or ATO interventions influence their choices.

You will provide advice and technical expertise, develop forecasts and models, conduct your own research and analysis, and communicate findings in an easily understandable manner to a range of internal and external stakeholders. You may lead a small operational team and will review the quality of work undertaken by others within a work group, as well as contribute to building team capability.

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Adelaide, Albury, Box Hill (VIC), Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Dandenong, Hobart, Melbourne CBD, Moonee Ponds, Perth, Sydney CBD or Townsville.

We embrace the strength of diversity — through our people and the perspectives they bring. We are committed to inclusive recruitment practices and encourage applications from people with disability or neurodivergence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and individuals from all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments can be provided throughout the recruitment process.
