Junior Mine Accountant – Yilgarn Iron Hub Restart

TS Staffing is partnering with Yilgarn Iron in the restart of the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub, supporting the development and efficient operation of key assets within the Yilgarn region.

Yilgarn Iron is a privately owned Australian mining company committed to restarting and operating historic iron ore assets in Western Australia's Yilgarn region, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. The company focuses on sustainable production, operational excellence, and strategic growth of its iron ore business within the Yilgarn Hub.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Junior Mine Accountant to support the financial management of Yilgarn Iron's operations. This role will focus on service and contractor agreement management, operational budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial oversight of mining operations and provide insights to support management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer service and contractor agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and performance expectations.
  • Review and approve contractor/service invoices and claims in line with agreements, resolving discrepancies with operations and contractors.
  • Track and report on costs associated with service contracts, identifying variances and opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Assist in preparation, monitoring, and reporting of operational budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decisions on service delivery and contract performance.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure financial oversight of all contracted services.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and financial reporting requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • 2–5 years' experience in mine accounting, contracts, or operational finance, preferably in mining or resources.
  • Exposure to FIFO operations and remote site environments.
  • Strong experience in service contract management and operational cost reporting.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Relevant accounting or finance qualifications (CPA, CA, or working towards) desirable.
  • Proficiency with financial and reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Excel).
  • Mining experience, particularly iron ore or bulk commodities, is desirable.
