Laboratory Technician – Yilgarn Iron Ore Restart

About the Project

TSS is delighted to be partnering with Yilgarn Iron Investments on the restart of their Yilgarn Hub iron ore assets, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. This project encompasses exploration, mining, and site rehabilitation, offering a hands-on role supporting practical operational and laboratory management.

About the Role

We're seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the team and support laboratory operations at the Yilgarn Hub. You will work alongside the mining and processing teams to ensure accurate and timely analysis of ore samples, including using XRF for chemical assays, contributing to grade control and quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory analyses on ore samples, including XRF, chemical, and mineralogical testing.
  • Prepare and process samples for analysis, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including XRF instruments, and ensure calibration and maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Record and report analytical results accurately, ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborate with geologists and processing teams to interpret results and support decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new testing methodologies and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations within the laboratory setting.

What We're Looking For

  • Tertiary qualifications in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within mining or resources.
  • Experience operating XRF instruments is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and operationally focused environment.

Roster - Location - Benefits

  • BIBO/DIDO - 8:6 from Perth to Southern Cross (will move to FIFO down the track)
  • Full-time, permanent position.
