Glencore's McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a strong future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, approximately 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, we produce and process zinc, lead, and silver from our open-cut operation. Our products are transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped globally, playing a crucial role in essential commodities used for mobility, infrastructure, and communications.

About The Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control System Engineer to join our team and provide technical leadership across our operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimisation, and maintenance of control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our processing facilities and equipment.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to critical projects and provide innovative solutions that enhance operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, and automation technologies.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for control system issues.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance plant reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to deliver automation solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and provide specialist technical advice to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project planning, commissioning, and optimisation activities.

About You

  • Degree qualifications in Electrical, Control Systems, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience with industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS), preferably in mining, resources, or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of control logic, automation, instrumentation, and process control.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, deliver outcomes, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • CPEng or eligibility for chartered status will be highly regarded.
