Position Summary
This position is based in Capella Sydney and reports to the Director of Human Resources. You will coordinate and organise a range of development activities that contribute to the attainment of the Company's performance standards and Hotel Goals. You will be responsible for conducting a systematic analysis of the hotel's training needs and delivering a relevant learning plan. The Learning and Development Manager acts as an internal consultant on department-related training matters, sources and maintains a current knowledge of statutory requirements and develops creative and innovative training programs.

The Role

  • Assists in identifying key drivers of colleague satisfaction and supports leaders in implementing development plans to enhance performance and engagement.
  • Be responsible for facilitating hotel orientation programs and other training sessions as required, ensuring all new and existing colleagues receive the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively.
  • Coordinates with departments and HR colleagues to develop and deliver learning and development initiatives that support business goals, succession planning, and career growth.
  • Assists in the implementation of Human Resources strategies and initiatives to uphold Capella's brand standards and operational objectives.
  • Supports the growth and performance of individuals through coaching, certification programs, and structured training pathways.
  • Ensures all training documentation, manuals, and certification processes are current, accurate, and aligned with operational needs.
  • Partners with business units to monitor training effectiveness, performance outcomes, and continuous improvement of learning programs.
  • Fosters a culture of excellence through recognition, empowerment, and the demonstration of Capella's service philosophy.
  • Ensures compliance with all local legislation, upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and fairness in all practices.

Talent Profile

  • Tertiary education in Hospitality or Human Resources related.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role at luxury hotels/resorts.
  • Hotel operational experience is preferred.
  • Highly organised with excellent people skills.
  • Passionate about the hotel and hospitality industry.
  • Must have valid existing work rights in Australia.
