The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in supporting clients to maintain their independence, dignity, and wellbeing in the comfort of their own homes. The PCA provides compassionate, high-quality care that reflects Wattle and River's values of respect, empathy, and person-centred support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with personal care, including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support clients with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and hydration.
  • Assist with light domestic duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe home environment.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering a sense of connection and wellbeing.
  • Support client participation in community, leisure, and lifestyle activities.
  • Observe, report, and document changes in client health or behaviour to the Care Coordinator/Registered Nurse.
  • Adhere to individualised care plans and follow clinical instructions as directed.
  • Ensure safe manual handling practices and infection control procedures are maintained.
  • Uphold the rights, dignity, and privacy of clients at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability, or equivalent).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current Police Check and Working with Children Check (if applicable).
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle (desirable).
  • Previous experience in community care, aged care, or disability support is highly regarded.
