About The Junction Neighbourhood Centre 

The Junction Neighbourhood Centre (JNC) provides a diverse range of community services and programs for the communities in Eastern and Inner Sydney, with a focus on people who are socially isolated, disadvantaged and vulnerable.  As a not-for-profit organisation operating for 50 years, the focus of our work is strengthening communities and creating connections.

They have community centres in Maroubra, Glebe and Bondi Junction which provide community information and places for the community to meet and participate in a wide range of groups, classes and programs.  They have capacity building projects targeting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people who are socially isolated. 

About the opportunity

Working in a collaborative team of caseworkers, this role enables women who are experiencing Domestic & Family Violence to stay safely in their own home or home of their choice. This is done through case management, safety strategies and support for women and their families. The role involves:

  • Day-to-day management of a complex caseload of clients and management of new referrals
  • Case management of clients in the Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) program as per program guidelines as well as cultural support, risk assessment, safety audits, and safety plans according to DV safety assessment tool.
  • Assess, approve and monitor brokerage expenditure to provide security upgrades for clients
  • Participate in local Safety Action Management (SAM) meetings
  • Maintaining and growing key stakeholder relationships in the community
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation and maintain referral pathways within JNC and with other service providers

This role could be right for you if you:

  • Bring experience working in the Family and Domestic Violence space or strong knowledge of working with women and children who have experienced DFV
  • Have experience working professionally as a case worker with clients with complex needs
  • Have qualifications in community services, case work, social work or similar
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), undergo a National Police Check and have an unrestricted NSW Driver's License.
