Allied Health Assistant (AHA)
Are you a student of Occupational Therapy or OT Graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a supportive and dynamic environment? Nialume is offering a unique opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) student or for an Occupational Therapist to join. Join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children.
About the Role
As an AHA or OT Grad, you'll be an essential part of our clinical team, working directly under the supervision of qualified Therapists. This role is designed to give you a genuine look into the day-to-day operations of an allied health practice and help you apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting children in therapy sessions, following the lead of the supervising therapist.
Help children achieve their development milestones, such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, to help with play, school or independent skills
- Educate and involve parents, carers and others to facilitate the development and learning of children.
- Help children with developmental delays learn everyday tasks
- Help children with behavioural issues maintain positive behaviours in all environments
- Observing and actively participating in team meetings and professional development sessions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of therapy principles, build practical skills, and gain confidence in a clinical setting.
Employment Type - Full-time or Part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic student who is:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Occupational Therapy, or graduated in the last 12 months or graduating in 2025
- Passionate about working with young children.
Eager to learn and apply academic knowledge in a practical setting.
Support families as they move through the therapeutic journey, including accessing funding and receiving a diagnosis.
- Contribute to a safe, happy, and empowering environment that fosters children's learning and growth.
- Join a team that uplifts one another, values respect, and grows together while sharing plenty of laughs along the way
What We Offer
- A head start in the industry, gaining practical experience before you even graduate.
- Weekly supervision from experienced clinicians to help you learn effective clinical skills and behavior management techniques.
- Invaluable networking opportunities with real clinicians who can share tips and advice for workplace success.
- The chance to observe other clinicians and learn about different disciplines, broadening your understanding of the industry.
- The unique opportunity to build your own client base as a student; most of our Allied Health Assistants keep their caseload when they graduate.
- An engaging and positive team environment with quarterly team outings and frequent team lunches.
- Professional Growth Support: Enjoy up to $1500 annually (pro-rata) for training, courses, or continued professional development. We're committed to helping you grow
