The Role

Our Innovation & NPF team is seeking a Development Chef / Cook to join our Perth site for a 12-month contract, backfilling a team member on secondment.

This is not your typical chef role.

It's a learning-focused, development pathway designed for cooks or early-career chefs who want to expand into R&D, recipe development, and food manufacturing processes.

Working alongside Drew and another Development Chef, you will help transform kitchen recipes into products ready for large-scale production.

In this role, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the development and testing of recipes to meet project briefs
  • Following precise processes, measurements and viscosity testing
  • Preparing accurate recipe builds and supporting cost feasibility work
  • Participating in internal tastings, reviews and presentations
  • Supporting improvements to existing products and factory processes
  • Ensuring high-quality plating, execution and food safety standards
  • Collaborating closely with the Innovation Chefs and wider technical team
  • Providing input on cooking or reheating instructions for product concepts
  • Contributing to a positive, bubbly, supportive team culture
  • Attending meetings and providing updates on development progress

The Person

To be successful, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a cook or chef in cafés, restaurants or similar
  • A culinary qualification (preferred but not essential with strong experience)
  • Strong food knowledge, cooking technique and attention to detail
  • A curious mindset and willingness to learn new processes and systems
  • Ability to work both under pressure and in highly repetitive, methodical tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, relaxed and team-first attitude
  • Ability to work to tight timelines without compromising quality
  • Comfort taking and applying feedback
