Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. The Opportunity

In this critical role, you will apply your technical expertise to develop and maintain power distribution and industrial control systems on our Hot Mills equipment. You'll lead projects ranging from small upgrades to large-scale improvements as well as supporting our central engineering team for projects of strategic importance, driving optimum equipment performance and reducing failures. Your work will be essential in ensuring this world-class asset operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support Australia's steelmaking industry.

What Will You Do?

Working with multi-disciplinary teams, you will provide technical expertise in areas such as design, power systems, drives, control systems, equipment selection and technology improvement identification.

You will also:

  • provide electrical engineering support for the day to day operations of the plant
  • investigate and implement process improvement projects
  • deliver continuous improvement outcomes to support the production and supply of our products

More About You

You will have experience in facilitating engineering design, tender, supply, construction and commissioning. You will also have:

  • a degree qualification in electrical engineering
  • experience with automation systems, PLC, HMI, DCS & SCADA
  • experience with low voltage distribution systems and motor controls
  • experience with variable speed drives and closed-loop control systems
  • sound technical problem solving and trouble shooting skills
