Department Overview
Our Services team is part of the Motorola Solutions business covering the Australia and New Zealand region. We are a professional services team that delivers systems integration projects and managed services to our customers.
We deliver customer focused world-class, leading edge, end-to-end solutions fit for purpose within each customer's unique environment that include various voice (including radio) communications, data and video technologies with our clients predominantly in the public safety government sector and the energy & natural resources industry.
Job Description
As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible to provide high quality technical and operational support for IP-based communication system infrastructure and subscriber technologies/systems supplied by Motorola Solutions. In this role, you are expected to ensure service level and operational key performance measures are met and to provide technical excellence and leadership to other members of the Services team.
Your role will include, but not limited to the following:
- Provide technical subject matter expertise, engineering and upgrade support for main systems and sub-systems used on the applicable radio, microwave or data networks
- Act as a technical escalation point for Network Operations Control Centre (NOCC) staff or Field Engineers when necessary
- Create and review Problem management, knowledge management and test procedures for system stability
- Develop and audit as built documentation and update as required to ensure accuracy
- Participate in standby roster, 24x7 on call operation
- Support the IP network devices (firewalls, routers, switches, microwave) remotely and onsite
- Perform upgrades on network devices (remote/onsite) and assist with network designs
Basic Requirements
Education:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Electronics / Computer Systems Engineering or similar (Extensive industry experience will be considered as an alternative)
- Experience with Juniper Networks devices (JNCIA)
Experience and Skills:
Essential:
- 3+ years in an Engineering or equivalent role implementation and/or support of sophisticated radio communications networks or systems
- ITIL certificate of proficiency
- Support and administration experience of IT networks and/or microwave/mux distribution systems
- Experience with administration configuration, fault finding and maintenance of networks, servers, workstations and applications
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server
