About the Role

The Food Technology Assistant is responsible for ensuring the preparation and maintenance of food technology equipment and resources under the direction of the Head of Department, in a safe and efficient manner.

This is a part-time position, requiring attendance one day per week from 8:00am to 3:45pm during term time. Additional preparation and cleaning days may be required during term breaks and prior to the start of each term.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities in relation to the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide assistance to the Food Technology Department

  • Responsible for food orders and the efficient organisation and carrying out of duties as required in the Food Technology Department

  • Check food orders and deliveries

  • Accurately collate class orders

  • Collate student orders, general ordering, purchasing and correct and safe storage of supplies if requested

  • Ensure appropriate stock rotation

  • Set out ingredients for practical lessons

  • Prepare demonstrations as required

  • Maintain classroom and food storage areas in a clean and organized manner

  • Assist teachers with maintaining a clean, safe working environment

  • Ensure that consumables are replaced in a timely manner

  • Launder items as required

  • Photocopy and assist with the general administrative task as required

  • Source special items when required

General

  • Adherence to policies and procedures.

  • The ability to use initiative and judgment to resolve problems

  • Satisfactory and relevant computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Ability to work as an effective and contributing team member

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current Working with Children Check.

  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check current to within 6 months prior to commencement of employment at St Mark's.

  • Experience working in a school would be an advantage

  • Experienced in the requirements and standards of a commercial kitchen desirable
