About the Role

Business Law WA Pty Ltd (BLWA), is an incorporated legal practice and wholly owned subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce Western Australia (CCIWA), committed to providing practical, strategic and proactive legal advice to businesses across WA.

This position is ideal for an Associate with 3+ years experience who is looking at progressing their career within commercial law. As a member of the team, you will work closely with our Legal Directors and senior lawyers on commercial legal matters whilst growing your skillset as a commercial lawyer.  You will have the opportunity to work on a range of matters such as business sales and purchases, leasing matters, privacy matters, drafting and negotiating complex contracts, constitutions and shareholder agreements and advising in relation to requests for tender and compliance matters including work health and safety, across a broad range of businesses.

You will also be regularly participating in business development activities, including networking events and building and maintaining client relations as well as speaking at events and forums and preparing articles.

This is a full-time, permanent position that will be based in the Perth CBD office.

Key responsibilities include:

• Handling complex issues and providing high quality advice and practical solutions to clients
• Achieving annual revenue targets and managing client matters
• Actively participating in business development activities including regularly attending networking functions and preparation of high-quality presentations or articles to existing and prospective clients
• Continuously maintain an engaged client base
• Collaborating with CCIWA Business Units

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has 3+ years post admission experience as a commercial lawyer. You will possess strong problem-solving and effective communication skills, attention to detail, be able to work as a team and have the ability to build effective professional relationships. Above all, you have a strong belief in supporting WA businesses and making WA the best place to live and do business.

To be successful in this role, you will also have:

• Tertiary qualification in Law
• Hold a current Australian Practicing Certificate with 3+ years post admission experience in commercial law
• Ability to accurately interpret legislation, regulation, and rules
• Able to handle complex commercial legal issues and provide practical solutions
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Current Australian Drivers Licence and National Police Clearance
