Community Solutions are seeking applicants who are passionate about food and want to complete a Commercial Cookery Apprenticeship (Chef) based in Townsville. A dedicated Community Solutions Field Representative will be assigned to you to guide you through obtaining your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery whilst offering support throughout your placement/s during your apprenticeship.

In this entry level position, you will be provided with in depth training in all aspects of commercial cookery including:

  • Food preparation and plating during busy service.
  • Busy authentic restaurant providing indoor service
  • Safe food handling practices
  • Cleaning to legislative standards
  • Operation of kitchen equipment
  • Stock rotation

About You:

  • Possess a desire to pursue a long-term career as a Chef
  • Available to work weekends
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment with hot working conditions
  • Able to work under pressure and follow directions
  • Quick learner and willing to take on feedback
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Driver's License required due to split shift requirements
  • Cert I or II in hospitality would be advantageous or experience working with food

Successful candidates will need to provide two references and participate in a pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol testing.

Community Solutions is a non-for-profit organisation operating as a commercial business, providing apprentices and trainees to a variety of different businesses throughout Queensland. We provide apprentices and trainees important career guidance and opportunity to earn while they learn. Dedicated Field Officers are assigned to apprentices and trainees to provide ongoing support to completing their chosen trade qualification.
