Camp & Travel Superintendent

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony owns 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia. Theseassets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

This role will be offered as a FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster.

Reporting to the Manager - People, and with a team of 3 direct reports, you will be responsible for the effective management of the Camp and Travel Services department.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the Camp Catering contract and ensure high standards of service are delivered including but not limited to:

• Camp Catering, Camp Administration & Accommodation Cleaning.

• Laundry Services, Office Cleaning Services, Ground Keeping Services.

• Healthy Lifestyle Coaching & Information Sharing.

• Ensure effective and efficient camp booking processes are in place and maintained.

• Conduct regular and ongoing audits of facilities including accommodation, offices, dining room, kitchen and other relevant Camp service areas.
• Accountability for having camp maintenance attended to in a prompt and timely manner.
• Managing Camp occupancy and bookings ensuring capacity is not exceeded.
• Oversee the delivery and management of transportation services via charter aircraft and bussing for large numbers of employees, contractors and visitors to and from site.
• Oversee the operation and management of a large fleet of internally run and maintained busses.
• Lead and participate in formal regular and ad hoc Contractor meetings.
• Constantly review and assess Camp & Travel Costs vs Budget including monthly cost reporting.
• Assess, track and submit in a timely manner a large volume of invoices for Camp & Travel services.
• Monitor and track contractual compliance, costs and forecasts on camp occupancy and travel requirements.
• Ensure high level of safety focus is maintained within the team and contractors.
• Produce, review and maintain Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Manage, train and develop a large team of Camp and Travel personnel including supervisors, coordinators, operators, drivers, support staff and other area personnel.

About You:

You must be an experienced professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following experience:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a role supervising camp facilities, catering and travel.
• Previous experience working in the resources industry overseeing accommodation and travel logistics is essential.
• Experience leading large teams in the delivery of service focussed activities.
• Experience in contract administration, camp and transportation management systems and accounting / procurement systems is essential.
• High level of computer skills in Microsoft Office Software - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, planning & organisation skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
• Customer focused approach and effective communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a remote location on a FIFO roster.
