About St Vincent de Paul Society

For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria's most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little bit about the role

The St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria No Interest Loans (NILs) program provides small, no-interest loans to support individuals and families on low or limited incomes in purchasing essential goods and services.

The NILs Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of this program across Victoria. This position combines volunteer coordination, leadership, program delivery, and client support. It involves overseeing day-to-day volunteer operations, maintaining high service standards, and leading the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers. Additionally, the role contributes to the assessment and processing of loans while supporting continuous improvement initiatives under the direction of the NILs Manager.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Certificate IV or tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Bookkeeping (desirable)
  • Experience leading teams in community services, not-for-profit, or microfinance settings.
  • Understanding of financial wellbeing, hardship, and microfinance models.
  • Proven ability to supervise staff and volunteers across multiple locations.
  • Experience supporting clients in financial stress or vulnerability.
  • Knowledge of compliance, quality assurance, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Skilled in mentoring, training, and team development.
  • Able to manage competing priorities with attention to detail.
  • Ethical, adaptable, and client-focused.
  • Committed to the mission and values of the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Why work for us? We offer

  • We believe in families, so we like to provide a family-friendly environment in which to work.
