At the College of Medicine and Public Health, we deliver clinical, population and lab-based research, integrated teaching programs and high-quality clinical services. Our footprint reaches out from our world class teaching hospital at the Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia to multiple rural clinical locations all the way to Darwin in the Northern Territory. Our research and teaching equip the next generation of leaders and innovators with the skill, commitment, and vision to protect vulnerable communities and truly advance health outcomes. It is at the heart of everything we do.
About the Research Associate Role (Level A)
We are seeking a Research Associate to contribute to a dynamic research program in Reproductive and Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology, working under the guidance of the research group lead. The Reproductive and Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology Research Group is dedicated to improving the health of women and children by advancing the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medication use across the reproductive lifespan — from menstrual health and contraception to pregnancy, lactation, and menopause.
In this role, you will support a range of projects by managing and analysing data from clinical trials, cohort studies, and large linked administrative datasets. You will contribute to study design and implementation, perform statistical analyses, and help prepare high-quality publications, reports, and conference presentations that influence policy and clinical practice.
You may also contribute to the development of grant applications and assist in mentoring students involved in the research program, in line with the University's policies and academic standards.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Completion of a PhD or substantial progress toward a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related discipline.
Experience working with health data from clinical trials, cohort studies, or large administrative health datasets.
Familiarity with quantitative research methods and their application in health research.
Ability to critically appraise and synthesise literature relevant to reproductive and perinatal health.
Demonstrated capacity to contribute to team-based research and maintain productive professional relationships.
About the Research Fellow Role (Level B)
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join our Reproductive and Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology Research Group. Working under the direction of the group lead, you will contribute to research aimed at improving the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medication use across the reproductive lifespan.
The role involves managing and analysing data from clinical trials, cohort studies, and large linked datasets. You will support study design, contribute to publications, present findings at conferences, and assist in preparing research funding applications. This is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative team making a real impact on women's and children's health.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Postgraduate or PhD qualifications in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, public health, with a strong component in epidemiology and biostatistics, or a related degree
Research experience in terms of publications in high quality journals, attraction of external competitive grants and presentations at a national and/or international level, preferably related to reproductive/perinatal health.
Ability to work with health data collected through primary data collection (e.g. clinical trials and cohort studies) or the use of large administrative health datasets.
Interpersonal skills and experience in collaborating and engaging with diverse stakeholders and industry partners.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, and analyse health related data with attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience to undertake collaborative research and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and industry.
