Position Information

Camden High School is a fully comprehensive coeducational high school that caters to approximately 950 students, including 84 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students, as well as 7 special education classes for students with identified learning and support needs. Our school has strong ties to the local community and is highly regarded for the broad range of opportunities and social experiences offered to students.

We pride ourselves on our ability to support students in their transition into post school pathways through traineeships, employment and tertiary education options and offer extensive opportunities for students to pursue vocational education pathways through the Macarthur Trade Training Centre arrangement. In Year 7 and 8, we offer academically selective classes, which provides scope to extend these students in their educational abilities as well as a fully supervised HSC Hub to support senior students striving for academic excellence in their Higher School Certificate exams.

Camden High School has a strong sporting culture, especially through the sporting exchange program with Cowra High School, which has been running since 1971. We also encourage students to pursue agriculture, technological, creative and performing arts experiences at school. School priorities include wellbeing, literacy, numeracy, Aboriginal education, future focussed learning and engagement.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the planning, development and implementation of school wide strategies designed to address learning pathways and cater to the needs of a diverse range of students.
  • Visible and proactive leader with outstanding organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to operate effectively across the school to build positive relationships with students, staff and wider community.
  • Proven ability to manage administrative, resources and compliance responsibilities in accordance with standards set by NESA or other regulatory authorities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to strategically use and evaluate data to inform school planning to lead data-driven change and achieve the long-term vision of the School Excellence Plan.
General Selection Criteria
  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
