BDAC is an ACCO (Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation) registered as a member under the umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).
BDAC was founded to represent and provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on Djaara Country.
BDAC has a responsibility to ensure growth of services, development of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, better and improved health outcomes for our people, improved quality of life and be a lead agency in providing self-determination employment and career pathways for Aboriginal people.

About the Role
The Youth Education Coordinator is responsible for supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to engage in education and achieve their best in education outcomes.
Working alongside the Senior Connector and other team members to integrate the homework centre with broader regular youth activities. The Youth Education Coordinator will oversee design and delivery of regular youth activities with a focus on well-being and learning opportunities, through the establishment of a Homework Centre. The role will support well-being and learning outcomes including supporting cultural connection, strengthening of peer relationships and opportunities to grow life skills and explore learning pathways. This includes working with young people to identify learning support needs and linking them into these supports where available.
The Youth Education Coordinator will maintain and expand stakeholder relationships, especially school staff and act as a key navigator for young people.
Key Selection Criteria
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, with strong cultural knowledge and connection to local community.
- Experience in planning, running, and coordinating community programs, especially those focused on education or youth.
- Demonstrated interest in strengthening education outcomes, with experience in education settings highly desirable.
- Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of people, including schools, parents, young people, Aboriginal led organisations, and education providers.
- Able to keep detailed records and write accurate reports regularly (quarterly, six-monthly, yearly), using data to guide program improvements.
- Can work well independently and as part of a team, including mentoring or supporting other staff.
Education, Training and/or Competencies
- Connection to local schools and key contact.
Mandatory
- Current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
- National Police check Clearance
- Current driver's license
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required
Preferred/Desired
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members or in an Aboriginal organisation (preferred)
