Apprenticeship Opportunity – Starting Early 2026

Are you looking for a career that gets you outdoors, keeps you active, and lets you work with nature?

Warren Shire Council is looking for a motivated person to join our team as an Apprentice Trade Gardener. This is a full-time, 4-year apprenticeship where you'll learn practical skills in horticulture and landscaping while helping keep our parks, gardens, and public spaces looking their best.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assisting with the maintenance of parks, gardens, and sporting fields
  • Learning how to plant, prune, mow, and care for a wide variety of plants and turf
  • Operating garden and landscaping machinery and tools
  • Helping with irrigation systems and landscape improvement projects
  • Completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Parks & Gardens qualification

What You'll Need:

  • School Certificate
  • Class C Driver's Licence (or be willing to obtain within 3 months of starting)
  • A love for the outdoors and a strong willingness to learn
  • A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team

What We Offer You:

  • A full-time, permanent role with a 9-day fortnight, for the 4-year term of the apprenticeship
  • Apprentice wage between $482.00 to $827.40 per week (depending on age and experience)
  • Leave and entitlements under the Local Government (State) Award
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities to grow and learn

This position will start early 2026
