Our innovative research spans the full spectrum of powertrain systems—from advanced energy generation and electric propulsion to cutting-edge battery technologies. Right now, we are focused on developing safe, high-capacity battery systems and refining electric motor performance and control for autonomous platforms and submarines. These efforts are paving the way for smarter, more sustainable defence capabilities.

Our team is a vibrant, multi-disciplinary collective of scientists and engineers who are passionate about pushing scientific boundaries. Whether it is designing the next generation of underwater platforms or conducting large-scale testing in our world-class labs and out in the field, we are shaping the future of Defence with bold ideas and collaborative energy.

Our team can be most effective when it represents Australian society, and as such, we encourage candidates to apply from diverse and traditionally underrepresented groups who believe that they have something to offer. The requirements are that applicants be interested in working in a dynamic and inclusive team, who will bring diverse perspectives and ideas to our team, and who are excited to shape the future of Defence.
