The positions
Deakin Law school is looking to appoint several developing or established scholars to ongoing academic positions, both teaching and research and education-focused.
Scholars working in all fields of legal teaching and research are welcome to apply, with expertise in the following fields being particularly welcome: Property Law; Equity and Trusts; Contract Law; Evidence; Criminal Law; Family Law; Commercial Law; Environmental Law; and Health Law.
As an Associate Lecturer (Level A), Lecturer (Level B), Senior Lecturer (Level C), Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) in Deakin Law School you will be actively involved in teaching, including:
- Delivering student-centred education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across a variety of teaching modes (asynchronous, synchronous online, and face-to-face);
- As a member or a leader of teaching teams, developing and implementing effective and innovative curriculum design and educational resources;
- Creating and administering a variety of assessment tasks, providing clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to students;
- Supervising research students (Honours and HDR);
- Contributing to a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the Law School, including mentoring of colleagues and building teaching and learning capability.
In a teaching and research role, you will also undertake scholarly research, publish in quality journals and secure research funding. By developing a body of work recognised for quality and impact you will build a national reputation. At senior lecturer level or above, you will also participate in and lead collaborations that enable high quality research with national or international impact and recognition. In an education-focused role, you will contribute to the advancement of knowledge within your field, or in relation to legal pedagogy.
You will foster relationships with other academics and universities, the community, government and the legal profession, contributing to the University's community engagement agenda and enhancing the scholarly reputation of the University.

To be successful, you will have:
- a PhD in Law (Levels B - E) or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD in Law (Level A);
- a strong (Level A), excellent (Levels B, C and D) or outstanding (Level E) record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs, including research supervision;
- for teaching and research applicants, a developing research agenda (Level A), or an emerging (Level B), national (Level C) or international (Levels D and E) research reputation, underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or success in obtaining research funding;
- an emerging (Level B), national (Level C) or international (Levels D and E) research reputation, underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or success in obtaining research funding;
- an ability to contribute to service and leadership within the Law School, commensurate with the role and level sought;
- an ability to contribute to community engagement around legal research (teaching and research roles) and the teaching of law (all roles);
- strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues;
- a commitment to fostering relationships with fellow scholars, the community, the profession, and government, and with other higher educational institutions.
