The Associate Lecturer - Early Career Development Fellow (ECDF) will be required to teach and conduct classes and studios in disciplines relevant to music and/or music industry. They will assist in the academic and administrative, consultative and coordination tasks involved with the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) undergraduate program, the Approaches to Popular Culture undergraduate minor and the honours program. Functions associated with the position include presentation of lectures and tutorials, assessment of students and course administration in line with the University’s quality assurance requirements.
- The Associate Lecturer - ECDF is also required to undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that the Associate Lecturer - ECDF will work under support and guidance to develop expertise in teaching and research with an increasing degree of autonomy.
The Lecturer - Early Career Development Fellow (ECDF) is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to music and/or music industry. More specifically, the Lecturer - ECDF is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) undergraduate program, the Approaches to Popular Culture undergraduate minor, the honours program, and postgraduate programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Associate Lecturer:
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and teach courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field.
- Ability to generate externally funded projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
- Ability to work autonomously and also in teams, including a demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment.
- Desirable attributes include a demonstrated ability to teach: music production software such as Ableton Live; music business skills; music event management; social media for the music industry; DJ software.

- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and to negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
- Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate externally funded projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
- Desirable attributes include a demonstrated ability to teach: music production software such as Ableton Live; music business skills; music event management; social media for the music industry; DJ software.
**Qualifications**:
- Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
