Your New Role

As Manager, Investment Tax, you'll play a key role in shaping Aware Super's investment tax strategy and ensuring tax-informed decision-making across domestic and international transactions. You'll lead technical advisory work, manage external relationships, and support a high-performing team. This is a leadership role with real impact – protecting member outcomes and ensure investments are within Aware Super's tax risk appetite.

  • Provide expert tax advice on investment structures, due diligence, portfolio management and complex compliance across asset classes (infrastructure, property, private equity and credit).
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders across Investments, Legal and Risk.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess any potential impact to the Fund's investments and contribute to industry submissions and internal readiness.
  • Coach and develop team members while driving continuous improvement and innovation in the Investment Tax function.
  • Lead the delivery of tax research, policy development and regulatory engagement aligned with Aware Super's tax strategy.

How do you exceed our expectations?

  • The idea of being part of our growth is exciting and you want to play a pivotal role in making super simple.
  • Deep expertise in investment tax, with experience across deals, international structures and superannuation or funds management.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge (Australian and foreign), with the ability to deliver clear, actionable advice.
  • Skilled communicator and negotiator, confident engaging with senior stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and complex deliverables in a high-performance environment.
  • Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce or law, with postgraduate law or accounting credentials highly regarded.
  • You are balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You are curious to understand risk context and choose to speak up as we simplify, learn and grow.

Employee Experience

We understand that not everyone works in the same ways. We value flexibility and know that it helps you manage work and life.

Why you'll love working at Aware Super:

  • Gain exposure to a wide range of investments, both domestic and international, including providing investment tax support to Aware Super's London office;
  • Continue to develop professionally through the fortnightly internal tax training program, attending industry tax conference and other professional development opportunities offered by Aware Super;
  • Develop a network within the wider industry and investment tax group.

    Have a super impact: You'll think big and care deeply to help more Australians live their best lives in retirement.
  • Be part of something super unique: You'll work to reshape super and retirement. We'll invest in your growth and give you the opportunity to work on career-defining projects.
  • Work with super humans: You'll work hard and innovate, but also have some fun along the way.
